Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what data Lockwatch collects through the Android app and website, how we use it, who processes it, and how long it is kept.

Alert emails

When an alert is triggered, Lockwatch sends the alert data to our server over HTTPS so we can generate and send the alert email to the address you selected.

Depending on your settings and device permissions, an alert may include photos, a video clip with sound, a video thumbnail, the device location and accuracy, the alert time, the alert type, app and Android version, device manufacturer, country and language, and SIM/network details such as network name, network country and phone number where Android makes these available.

We use this data only to send the alert email, prevent abuse, troubleshoot delivery, and improve reliability. We do not sell alert data or use alert photos, videos, audio, location, SIM details or email addresses for advertising.

How long alert data is kept

We do not keep alert photos, videos, audio, precise location or your full email address on our server after the alert email has been sent. These items are discarded after the email is handed to our mail server.

Operational logs may keep limited diagnostic information for up to 7 days, such as whether an alert was sent, app/device details, attachment sizes, alert type, rounded approximate location, and an anonymised form of the destination email address. These logs help us detect failures, abuse and compatibility problems.

Alert history on your device

Lockwatch stores alert history locally on your device, including captured media, location details and timestamps, so you can view, share or delete past alerts in the app.

If an alert cannot be sent because the device is offline, Lockwatch stores it locally and retries when internet access becomes available. This queued alert data leaves your device only when it is sent to our server to generate the alert email.

Usage, diagnostics and reliability data

Lockwatch sends limited app usage and reliability data to help us understand whether the app is working correctly. This may include app version, Android version, device manufacturer, country, language, feature settings, alert counts, subscription status, and a randomly generated device ID.

We also use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app usage and diagnose crashes or errors. Crash reports may include technical device information, app state and error details, but are not used to access your alert photos, videos or precise location.

Website data

Our website uses Google Analytics and server log files to understand visits and improve the site. This may include pages visited, approximate location, browser/device information, referral links, timestamps and IP addresses. Server logs are kept for up to 7 days.

Third-party services

Lockwatch uses Google services for app analytics, crash reporting, ads, subscriptions, Play Integrity checks, maps and website analytics. These services process data under their own privacy policies. Google Play also processes subscription and purchase information when you subscribe.

We do not sell personal information or provide alert contents to third parties for marketing.

Your choices

You can turn Lockwatch features on or off in the app, change the alert email address, delete alert history from the app, revoke Android permissions, or uninstall Lockwatch. If you revoke permissions needed for a feature, that feature may stop working.
